YORK – The York Dukes saw their sophomore quarterback dominate in his first career start while their defense pitched a shutout on opening night in a convincing 46-0 win over Lexington.

York scored on their first four drives while forcing three first half Lexington turnovers. Duke quarterback Emmitt Dirks found the endzone three times, running for two and passing for another. He would run in from five yards out, connect with Declan Peterson from 22 yards before Dirks snuck in for a two yard score in the second quarter, giving York a 27-0 lead at half. Lexington turned the ball over three of their first five drives.

The Dukes would continue their dominance in the second half, scoring on their first three drives. Dirks would score on a 28 yard rush, he tossed a 19 yard pass to Cole Montgomery for a touchdown and the final score would come from a Joe Burgess eight yard touchdown. The Minutemen would turn the ball over one more time in the second half.

Lexington struggled the entire game to move the ball, only accounting for 28 yards on offense. York totaled 410 total yards on offense, however committed 11 penalties for 90 yards.
